“Cancer never sleeps, and neither do we”

Relay For Life is an overnight community event that celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those lost and rallies everyone to fight back so we can bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Each Relay is a community-led, non-athletic event where teams set up camp and take it in turns to walk around a track for up to 24 hours to signify that ‘cancer never sleeps’.

The type of person we are looking for

If you want to be part of a team like no other and are passionate about the fight to beat cancer sooner, this is the role for you. You’ll have a keen eye for detail and strong relationship building skills to ensure that the Relay engine is running smoothly in the lead up to and during the event. If you’re calm and collected with the ability to think quickly then keep on reading.

What you can expect from Cancer Research UK

  • An induction and ongoing support and guidance from your Local Fundraising Manager as well as fellow volunteers
  • Wider support via the Relay For Life network across the rest of the UK

What benefits can you get from this role?

  • Meet like-minded people who are working together to raise money for Cancer Research UK
  • Development and support with your logistical, event management and leadership skills
  • Know you are helping Cancer Research UK bring forward the day when all cancers are cured
  • Be part of a huge, fun and inspiring event

How much time do you need to commit?

You will be expected to attend an initial training/induction day. Planning generally begins 9 months prior to the Relay. We expect you will attend Relay For Life Committee meetings, these will most likely be monthly and then weekly as the Relay gets closer and to be there for the Relay event itself.

The amount of time you commit outside of this is completely up to you – the more time you want to give or as little time as you have to give is fine with us.  All we really ask is that you don’t take on more than you can do.

Where will you be based?

This is a home based role, however a large part of your role will include you being ‘out and about’ in the community e.g. venue site visits, committee meetings etc.

Interested…?

Register your interest using this handly little form and we will get back to you to chat more.

Join us today and together we will beat cancer sooner.
